Liz Black – SS15 collection inspiration is powerful and strange. Unusual yet sensational insects, with their bright colours and captivating anatomies, set the basis for Spring/Summer 2015. Exoskeletons are translated into bold lines that emphasize the neck and enhance the shoulders, whilst ample dresses with accentuated muscular waists, inspired by the beetle’s segmented plates, offer a distinct take on the traditional hourglass silhouette.
Both texture and colour play a key role in evoking the odd beauty of the insect world: exquisite nappa leather, soft microfibre jersey, cotton drill and sexy power mesh come together in solid blocks of neon green, acid yellow, electric pink, citric orange and marine contrasted with royal blue and black.
The magic of metamorphosis is printed in a fluorescent array of organic spots that resemble the skin of a rare fly or the wings of a striking butterfly. A reminder, perhaps, that both humans and insects are pure beings freed of their carnal envelopes in both a literal and a metaphorical sense. The Collection is now available in Valleydez.
